Local City Hall

Challenges in Capturing Wild Animals

In our region, damage caused by wild animals has been frequent in recent years due to various factors. In particular, the proximity of wild animals, such as bears, to residential areas has led to an increasing number of situations where the safety of residents is at risk.

In response, city hall staff regularly patrol bear traps in the mountains to ensure the safety and tranquility of the local residents. However, these patrols require walking along rugged mountain paths, where the terrain is difficult and weather conditions often add to the challenge, making it an extremely strenuous task.

As a result, the time and effort required for this work are substantial, putting a significant physical and mental burden on the staff. Given these circumstances, city employees are constantly seeking more efficient ways to reduce the labor involved in this task.

Remote Monitoring System for Efficient Wild Animal Capture and Patrol Optimization

We have leveraged our long-standing technical expertise and knowledge gained from river monitoring systems to develop and implement a solution designed to reduce the burden of regular patrols for city hall staff. This new system provides a way to remotely monitor the status of wild animal captures in real-time, eliminating the need for on-site visits that were previously required.

Specifically, data from the capture devices and surveillance cameras installed in the mountains can now be accessed by staff via the internet using computers or mobile devices. This enables them to quickly assess whether a capture has occurred and determine if any action is needed, allowing for more efficient operations where visits to the site are only made when necessary.

With the introduction of this system, the time and effort required for patrols have been significantly reduced, easing the burden on staff and contributing to the safety of local residents.
