Business Description

We aim to contribute to the sustainable development of society by addressing various social issues and regional challenges, and by solving these problems to realize a Well-being society. To achieve this, we closely collaborate with external institutions such as research institutes and universities, working together on the development of new technologies that lead the times. Additionally, by merging the distinct domains of the 'Near-Fture Lab' and 'Co-Creation Factory,' we rapidly and reliably promote technological innovation, conducting high-level technology development that responds to society's needs. Through this approach, we not only aim to improve the well-being of local communities but also provide a technological foundation for creating a better future, enhancing product quality and value to society.

Three Challenges for a Well-being Society

We are addressing the three challenges for a well-being society from three perspectives: Supporting health, Protecting daily life, and Transforming the way we work, and are advancing research and development in these areas. Additionally, we focus on nurturing the next generation of young talent and developing local engineers, contributing to the sustainable development of the region. By having young engineers tackle local societal issues, we aim to enhance the well-being of the entire community. SME is working on these challenges from both technological development and regional contribution aspects, making daily efforts toward the realization of a sustainable well-being society.

River Monitoring System

In our region, there are the Takatsu River, a first-class river, and the Masuda River, a second-class river, along with numerous tributaries and main drainage channels that flow into them.

During periods of heavy rainfall, city hall staff must spend considerable time patrolling these rivers and drainage channels under hazardous conditions to monitor water levels. Many have expressed concerns about the risks and challenges associated with this task.

In our region, damage caused by wild animals occurs due to various factors.

As one measure to ensure that residents can maintain a safe and peaceful life, bear traps have been installed in the mountains. However, to check whether a bear has been captured, city hall staff must regularly patrol the rough mountain terrain. This task is highly challenging and places a significant burden on them.

Towards the realization of automated experiments for small animals.

We are advancing joint research with the RIKEN Institute to develop sensor units for effectively monitoring small animals' biological information and environmental data, collecting and analyzing them in real-time, as well as an LED unit to induce hibernation in small animals.
